My topic is whether or not college athletes should be paid. Upon reading about this subject, several questions came up in addition to the original question. One question is that if we decide to pay college athletes how should we go about awarding their pay? Is it fair to pay a Heisman winning Quarterback for a large Division 1 school the same amount as the worst player on the fencing team for a small Division 3 school? Also, we have to ask where is this money coming from? Should the NCAA be paying these athletes or should the money becoming from the state or national government, or should the actual colleges be given the chance to flex their wallets and pay for athletes the same way a professional team might? There are many sources that I could go to for research on this topic seeing how hot of topic it is. ESPN has several articles and documentaries regarding paying college athletes, as do organizations like The Huffington Post, Time Magazine, and CNN.

For my final project I would ultimately like for it to be regarding sports. I'm looking to go into Sports Journalism so gearing my essay towards that would be the most productive option. I had a few ideas I was considering: One being the debate as to whether professional sports leagues should be allowed to implement an age limit which basically forces teens to become college athletes. I also was considering tackling the popular debate of whether or not college athletes should be paid. If those ideas don't work for the essay I would be glad to hear any other ideas anyone might have regarding the sports world.
